WOODCRAFTER'S TIP
Penofin® Interior Wood Stain Applications

desk picture PENOFIN ® Gold Label Interior Oil Stain is a high-performance penetrating oil finish that protects and enhances the natural beauty of exotic and domestic hardwoods and softwoods. Use on all professional woodworking projects that require a durable, long-lasting, natural finish. PENOFIN is transparent, dries quickly, and does not bleed back or cause raised grain. Further, it prevents yellowing fading, and darkening. Being a penetrating oil, it has no surface film to chalk, peel, or crack.

Application
Interior Paneling: Apply one generous coat of Penofin Interior Wood Stain and wipe entire surface after 30 minutes. Protects the wood from moisture damage and discoloration. Woodworking: use PENOFIN on cabinets, flooring, furniture and exotic art objects. For custom woodworking, professionals use a wet sanding method for hand-rubbed beauty. Wet sanding with PENOFIN creates a natural paste that fills the pores of the wood and eliminates the need for a sanding sealer or paste filler. For a high-gloss finish, use this method with multiple coats.

kitchen cupboards Wet-sanding method:

1. Sand smooth with the wood grain, using 150-grit or finer sandpaper.

2. Apply PENOFIN Interior Wood Stain generously, flooding all areas. After 15 minutes, add more PENOFIN to dry areas and end grain. Thirty minutes later, remove excess with a clean, dry cloth. Allow to cure at least 24 hours.

3. Apply PENOFIN to a small area. With 400- to 600-grit wet/dry sandpaper, sand with the grain and keep the area wet with PENOFIN oil. Wipe the area dry and repeat the process until grain is filled and desired patina is achieved. Buff to a polish with a clean, soft cloth. If desired, a polyurethane varnish or lacquer may be applied over PENOFIN after waiting one week.

Colors
PENOFIN Interior Finishes are available in the following colors: Natural, Appalachian Oak, Medium Walnut, Dark Walnut, Golden Oak, and Mahogany.

It is best to apply PENOFIN to test strips in order to determine the color desired. The shade can be affected by the manner applied, the length of time the oil is left on and by the number of coats. If desired color is attained with one coat of a pigmented formula, the wet sand process may be done with PENOFIN Natural.

floor picture Maintenance
Burnishing with a soft dry cloth or buffer will maintain the beauty of PENOFIN-enriched wood. Because PENOFIN is a penetrating oil, damaged areas, scratches or stains may be repaired using the wet sanding process with PENOFIN Natural or a tinted formula.

Clean Up
Use Mineral spirits or paint thinner.
